QUICK-FIX FOR POSTPARTUM SKIN

Who doesn’t love the effortless third trimester glow? The plump & smooth skin radiating from within was one of the highlights of my pregnancy. Soon after the arrival of the baby, the glow just vanished!!! Skincare routine gets pretty much f*cked up because bath time goes for a toss (consider yourself lucky if you get to shower or brush every day).

The sudden change in hormones, reduced water intake, less fluid retention by body and many other factors lead to a dry – dehydrated skin which is flaky as well! None of the home remedy worked for me.The only thing that was a good hydrating facial from Geetanjali salon. They suggested me Skeyndor’s face cleanser, a hydrating mist and a cream but, as I couldn’t keep up with a good skincare routine, the good skin post facial started to fade away.

The facials are expensive AF and I couldn’t afford to go for them every month. While looking for a solution for my skin condition, i thought of giving sheet masks a try when I happened to come across Nykaa’s Luxe Store in Gaur City Mall. The store has a wide range of sheet masks from different brands. I straight away asked for a mask for dehydrated skin and I was suggested to go for Nykaa Pearl And Hyaluronic Acid. I was trying a sheet mask for the very first time and got two of Nykaa Pearl And Hyaluronic Acid Sheet Masks home.

After reaching home as soon as my lil bub fell asleep, I cleansed my skin, ripped the pack open, slightly squeezed out excess serum and put the sheet on my face and waited for the next 20 minutes to pass by. If you google, these masks are loaded with active ingredients and the sheet doesn’t let them evaporate when the temperature of the skin rises which in turn helps in penetrating deeper into the skin. When after 20 mins I removed the Nykaa Pearl And Hyaluronic Acid Sheet Mask, I was surprised to see how bright and plump my skin was, even my partner noticed the glow!! None of the expensive skin care worked so well for my skin which a 100₹ mask did (if you buy 5 masks, you get 5 free and that makes each mask cost ₹50). The glow lasts for 2-3 days.

While purchasing I didn’t pay any attention to the ingredient list but, now that I have 10 of these, I found out that it contains alcohol as one of its ingredients. What I read online and found is that all alcohols are not bad for the skin, it is basically there to make the texture less sticky and also to prevent serum from drying out.

On my second visit I ended up buying variations of Nykaa’s Sheet Masks. I have tried the collagen and grapefruit as well but as of now dehydration is my main concern, I love the Pearl and Hyaluronic one. The main function of Hyaluronic acid is to keep the tissues on the skin supple and retain water.

Nothing beats a healthy lifestyle! These masks are just quick fixes. So if you want a glow like pregnancy, you need to eat and drink as healthy as possible just like when one is pregnant! 🙂

MAC RETRO MATTE LIQUID LIPSTICK IN SHADE FEELS SO GRAND

Happy New Year beautiful people! May this year be rich with blessings of love, joy, warmth, and laughter.  I know I am late to review liquid lipstick from MAC but as they say, “better late than never”. Liquid lipsticks are my favourite kind. I have always loved the matte finish and have been by amazed till my twenties to see how on few females the lipstick stays put for long even after heavy meals, whereas, mine couldn’t even survive a coffee! Thinking that matte lipsticks will solve the purpose of staying on for long, I bought MAC’s Lady Danger. It is the only matte lipstick I own till date, but the formula is highly unforgiving on my dry lips, doesn’t matter how well I exfoliate or hydrate. With launch of liquid lipsticks matte finish and my dry lips have become best of friends!

MAC RETRO MATTE LIQUID LIPSTICK IN SHADE FEELS SO GRAND - 2

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick in shade Feels so Grand is the prettiest red that I have ever owned. The texture is very light: slightly mousse like that dries down to a matte finish and the colour is very well pigmented. One layer is enough for a perfect opaque finish. It neither feels dry on the lips nor does it get accentuated in the fine lines. The colour does stay on for long but needs to be reapplied after food (especially oily kind) and drinks. The formula is not completely transfer proof, it does transfer to mugs when you drink. And before I forget, the applicator is simply amazing.

The touch up is mainly required on the centre of the lips but when reapplied it crumbles and makes the lips look very dry. Hence, it is better to take off the lipstick completely and apply it all over again. Overall, I personally love this colour a lot! And I don’t mind retouching as most liquid lipsticks require touch up after having Indian meal.
